Uniforms

All students are expected to be in complete uniform each day. Uniforms are purchased at Merry Mart located at 33 Washington St., Santa Clara (296-0423).  The website for Merry Mart is www.MerryMartUniforms.com

GIRLS UNIFORM

• Plaid jumper (Gr. K - 5); plaid skirt (Gr. 6 – 8)
• White short-sleeved blouse
• Plain white long-sleeved turtleneck
• White or green polo shirt (May be worn with shorts, pants, and skirts.)
• Green pullover polar fleece or sweatshirt with logo, green cardigan or V-neck sweater, or vest
• Khaki twill pants
• Khaki walking shorts
• Plain white knee, crew, or ankle or white, footed, opaque tights (no designs).

BOYS UNIFORM

• Khaki twill pants
• Khaki walking shorts
• Plain white long-sleeved turtleneck
• Plain white or green polo shirt
• Green pullover polar fleece or sweatshirt with logo, green cardigan or V-neck sweater, or vest
• Plain white crew or ankle socks.

SHOES GIRLS AND BOYS

• Girls and boys wear play shoes, i.e. tennis or running shoes. Students may not wear sandals, flip flops, boots, slip-on shoes (Vans), or shoes with soles or heels over 1 inch.

PE UNIFORMS GIRLS AND BOYS (GRADES 7 AND 8)

Seventh and Eighth grade students must dress for PE. The shirt, shorts and/or sweatpants must be purchased at Merry Mart in Santa Clara.

• Tennis/running shoes.
• PE Green mesh shorts (with logo)
• PE Gr ey Tee (with logo)
• Green warm up pants and jacket (with logo)
• Jacket can be worn at any time.

UNIFORM REGULATIONS

Students should carefully follow the regulations for uniform and personal appearance at St. John Vianney School and all school sponsored events.

• NO colored T-shirts or T-shirts with designs may be worn under blouses or shirts.
• Jackets, coats, non-uniform sweatshirts, vests, hats, etc. may not be worn in any class.
• Extreme hair styles (length, color or design) for girls and boys are not acceptable. Hair should be clean and combed. Boys’ hair cannot be longer than the top of the collar.
• Excessive makeup and jewelry (e.g., earrings larger than a nickel, large necklaces, etc.) piercings and visible tattoos are not acceptable.
• Only clear nail polish may be worn and light colored lipstick (for 7th and 8th graders).
• Polo shirts and blouses must be tucked in to skirts, shorts or pants at all times.
• Students must wear plain white socks or tights.
• Shoelaces must be tied.
• All parts of the uniform should be clean, neat, and of appropriate size and length for the student.
• A uniform shirt must be worn underneath the polar fleece pullover and sweatshirt.
• 7th and 8th grade students may wear the P.E. warm up jacket at any time.

If it is necessary for a student to be out of uniform, she/he must bring a note to the teacher explaining the reason.

OTHER DRESS AND NON-UNIFORM DAY GUIDELINES

The last Thursday of each month is designated as Non-Uniform Day unless parents/guardians are notified otherwise.

Students are expected to be appropriately dressed for on or off-site school or school-related activities. This includes being clean, neat, and modest in personal appearance.

• Extreme or distracting attire is not allowed.
• Oversized, excessively baggy, or sagging pants may not be worn.
• Short skirts or shorts, tight fitting pants, or spandex pants, shorts, or tops may not be worn.
• Pants, skirts, and shirts are not rolled up.
• Tank tops, tops that show a bare midriff or back, strapless, halter or off-the shoulder dresses or tops are not to be worn.
• Hats, caps, bandanas, or kerchiefs are not to be worn.
• Students may not wear jewelry that pierces the skin, with the exception of earrings. Tattoos may not be displayed.
• Backpacks, books or covers, notebooks, etc. are to be free of inappropriate drawings, writings, or patches.

A student who is dressed inappropriately may be sent home at the discretion of the administration.

BACKPACKS

Each student may have one backpack, which is no longer than 20 in. (height) X 15 in. (width) X 8 in. (depth) including handle & wheels (if roller backpacks are selected).
