In the past few years, many of our families have experienced tremendous financial setbacks and yet have prioritized their commitment to provide their children with a quality Catholic education. These times are difficult for the Catholic schools also as they make serious efforts to hold down costs, while still improving the educational value. At St. John Vianney School, we are able to move forward due to the strategic long range planning and the commitment of our parents and staff. St. John Vianney School’s tuition is an affordable tuition with a resolve to help those families who need tuition assistance. Some families may be able to pay the full per pupil cost while other families need assistance. Please note that currently no family is assessed the full cost. We must rely on everyone to assist us as much as possible to make up the difference between the tuition and the per pupil cost of an education at St. John Vianney School. In the true sense of a community, no one may step back and allow others to take on the full responsibility.
The 2013-2014 tuition reflects an increase of $1.65/day for one child from last year. We continue to offer a significant discount in particular for families with additional children. Service hours and fundraising commitments are important elements in meeting the year’s budget, thereby, helping to make up the gap between tuition and the cost to educate your child. The amount of these commitments has not changed.
1. Tuition Schedule:
2. Cash Flow – Direct Tuition Payment
An Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) of the non-refundable registration fee of $450 per child will be processed on June 10, 2013.
Tuition is an annual rate; however families have the option of an 11 month payment plan. EFT of your tuition payment will be processed on the tenth (10th) of each month beginning July 10th, 2013 through May 10th, 2014.
3. Out of Parish Fee – No Increase
A St. John Vianney Parish family is defined as a Catholic family who is registered at least 1 year in the Parish, regularly using the envelope system, and actively participating through worship and service.
Out-of-parish families will be charged an additional $400 per student (no change from last year).
4. Fundraising Commitment – No Increase
The fundraising minimum commitment is $400 per child. The current fundraising program offers parents a variety of choices that help to make up the gap between tuition and the true cost to educate their children. In addition, parents have the choice of a “buyout” of their fundraising commitment. We will continue this buyout as it offers parents a potential tax savings (consult your accountant).
eScrip
All new families are required to have 6 active eScrip participants by October 1st, 2013. Each family will be charged annually an additional $50 for each registrant short of the goal. Information on fundraising and current events is available on the website and in the weekly communication newsletter.
5. Annual Fund
Since the Annual Fund benefits every child, it is expected that every family make an effort to contribute to the Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is a development, not a fundraising effort, to allow for an immediate need to be met without impacting the annual tuition. In 2012-13, the 8th Annual Fund was designated to start a Technology Fund to assist with the costly purchase of computers for our students’ learning.
Budget:
St. John Vianney School’s total budget for the 2013-14 school year is $4,354,019. Tuition alone does not cover this cost.
Even with the high costs of insurance, employee health and retirement benefits, the budget allows us to continue to make advances in instructional practice, meet curriculum needs, and provide staff development to increase the quality of our academic program, to facilitate other major capital improvements, such as technological upgrades, and to improve the school facilities, all of which keep St. John Vianney School a quality Catholic school. In addition, we are able to increase our scholarship/tuition assistance program for those families needing help to meet their financial commitment.
Funds for the budget will be met by the following methods:
Tuition and Fees $ 3,216,637
Family Fundraising Commitment ($400 per child) $ 192,000
Development Efforts & Other Income (social fundraisers, exchange
accounts, interest, scholarships, parish collections, Golf Tournament,
Annual Fund, Matching Grants, etc.) $ 945,382
Total $ 4,354,019
How Do I Meet the Fundraising Commitment?
Any combination of the following options plus active participation in eScrip will fulfill your fundraising obligation:
