In response to evolving news related to COVID-19 (coronavirus), St. John Vianney Catholic School has created this webpage devoted to keeping our school community informed. We hope you will find this useful and we encourage you to check the site frequently for any updates related to COVID-19 and its impact on our school community. Our principal, Mrs. Seminatore, and Vice Principal, Mrs. Spencer, will maintain diligent monitoring of the situation. We are also providing links on this page to additional resources that offer health and safety guidelines as collectively our wider community faces the many challenges resulting from COVID-19. We continue to pray for all those impacted.
IMPORTANT UPDATED INFORMATION FOR SJV FAMILIES
As we have now escalated to a complete shutdown of our campus, we are currently closed until May 1st, and possibly beyond, as per the mandate from the Santa Clara County Health Department and Diocese of San Jose Department of Catholic Schools.
WHAT DOES THIS SHUTDOWN MEAN?
It means that there will be no physical presence on the SJV campus; it is closed. You can still call the office, as the calls will be answered remotely between 8:00AM and 3:00PM. Email will continue to be monitored. Our support for you will remain. Please let us know how we can assist you.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH MY CHILD'S LEARNING?
You will be receiving information from your child's teacher as we partner together for your child's learning continuum.
Parents: All communication will occur from your child's teacher through Parent Square - as will your communication to your child's teacher. Every morning you will receive a post from your child's homeroom teacher at 7:50AM. You will need to appreciate the post in order to mark your child as "present at school". If you do not reply by 8:00PM, your child will be marked "absent" for that day. If your child is ill, or absent, please message your teacher to let them know and contact email@example.com. Know your child's username and password for Google Classroom - that is where all assignments and communication for your child will occur. Know this information so you can help your child track their assignments. Please help your child stay up to date and organized while they adjust to a new way of learning.
Students: You have picked up the necessary materials from school to help you be successful. All assignments and communication with your teacher will happen through Google Classroom. Please let your teacher know if you need anything outside of the posted information. Work hard to stay on a schedule to help you be successful during this time.
A new Technology Use & Internet Policy & Agreement for Schools has been signed by all families to acknowledge this new way of learning. This is an update to our original document you signed at the beginning of the year. Our learning is shifting at this time, and there is a new form that needs your immediate attention with an acknowledgement of your electronic signature and is available through Parent Square; there is a post titled with the name of the agreement. Thank you for your cooperation as we get all of our necessary items arranged for distance learning. We understand that these are unusual times, which can be stressful and pose additional burdens on your family. Please know we are sensitive to this as we too are experiencing the same situations within our own workload and families. Communication will be vitally important as we move through this journey. Reach out to the teachers for any questions or concerns you may have with your child's learning. Reach to the Administration for any other questions.
Take comfort that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers, and that God will reign over our community. Take care of yourself and your family.
May God bless you,
Laura Seminatore Barbara Spencer
Principal Vice Principal

All athletic events are cancelled. No games, practices, or meetings will take place, on or off campus. The Spring sports program has been cancelled.
All activities, practices, and events through May are cancelled, with a possibility of all events through the end of the year.

- Stay home when sick and away from others in your household.
- Practice excellent personal hygiene habits, including washing your hands with soap and water frequently, coughing into a tissue or your elbow, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth unless you’ve just washed your hands.
- Get plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids, eat healthy foods, and manage your stress to keep your immunity strong.
